Introduction
This trip to Myrtle Beach, our first for
2009, was a brief one from February 13th through the 16th and the
primary purpose was to attend a charitable fund raising event which,
retrospectively, we can say was a great success. The weather was,
shall we say, extremely variable with the first day being sunny and
warmish which contributed to making the drive there and later adventures
after our arrival very pleasant. The second day was best
characterized as miserable weather-wise with lots of cold rain and mist
emanating from a dark gray sky. The last two were, for the most
part, sunny and dry though the wind was brutally cold especially as it
whipped round the corners of the balcony where we were staying.
But on all the days seemingly undeterred by whatever weather was present
it was noted there was a fair number of walkers along the beachfront -
no doubt hardy northern types who found it nice compared to what they
were escaping back home.
We were pleased to be able to try for
dinner one new for us high end restaurant and to revisit a more
mainstream one upon which we had lavished considerable praise after our
last visit to Myrtle Beach. With regard to that latter restaurant,
it was with some apprehension that we visited because of the worry that
it might not "measure up" this time around. We needn't
have been concerned though we didn't rate it quite as high as before.
As always on our ventures to Myrtle Beach
we greatly enjoyed the opportunities we had to spend time with special
friends and to meet new people, in addition to visiting a few of our
favorite clubs and experiencing live performances of Carolina Beach
Music. We'll be sharing some of the highlights with you in this
write-up.
Once again in order to cater to the
somewhat diverse interests of the readers of our Myrtle Beach
travelogues we'll divide our presentation into two major
components. Remember there's a Table of Contents link at the
bottom of each page to help facilitate selection of and navigation to
the subjects within the major sections. Happy reading!
